Best Friends

I am unsure if it is the pregnancy hormones or I am just a softy for animals...or a combination of both, but this video made me tear up cry like a baby. I have warned you if you are either of the above.

Going to the movies!

Ok, not really. Actually, just sitting my ass on my couch and watching movies. So I have had this goal on a list many, many years ago. I probably should post that list and made myself a little more accountable! Anyways, so this goal...I have wanted to watch the AFI 100 Years, 100 Movies

I took a Film Appreciation class last semester and I really enjoyed it. It allowed me to finally watch some of the older, classic movies and ignited that fire once more to watch some of the greatest movies ever made. I love researching things. So I love reading about when/where movies were made and the actors chosen and about their lives. I think that "Old Hollywood" is very intriguing.
The top 20 movies were not made in this century. Movies aren't made with the same passion and artistry and the older films were. I think that is because of CGI, 3D and crazy marketing for people to watch movies.

oh no, i forgot my phone...

This video definitely makes you realize that we use our phones so much that human interaction and enjoyment is becoming to get lost to a little electronic that is smaller than our hand.

changing of the seasons

this past week has been a roller coaster of emotions. i have a lot of not so fun body things going on with being a girl. i am trying to find a job and we are trying to plan for our future.

i know that everything will work out in the end and always does, but it makes me want to shake my fist at the sky and bitch to the heavens!

positives:

  • weight watchers is good. i have lost about 5 pounds in the past couple of weeks.
  • we joined a new gym, which feels like a spa. i always want to stay all day and sit in the sauna or jacuzzi. too bad there isn't cocktails by the pool!
  • i am starting to have more of a sense of who i am...only took 33 years!
  • have a couple of fun trips in the future.
  • school for kaity is about to start. 5th grade! Crazy!
  • i love UNDER THE DOME! if you haven't watched it, you need too. you can thank me with chocolates and hair bows.
negatives:
  • summer is almost over and back to the work environment.
  • with summer being over, no more sleeping late.
  • i colored my fun purple hair red last night. i look like i spray painted it for halloween.
  • i hate job hunting.

here is a few pictures from our summer trip to california/nevada/arizona/utah

Pass the Cookbook June Edition - Bobby Flay

This month, Pass the Cookbook FB Group chose Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries and Shakes Cookbook.

I was lucky to find it at the library here in town. I was excited about making burgers. I love burgers and so does my husband, Charlie. But he is a picky burger eater. Always taking it "plain and dry". He is not a condiment person at all.

Out of the 3 burgers to cook, I chose the Crunchburger. It was the least crazy (not for me...but for the boy.)

When I made my grocery list, I didn't put horseradish on it, since I probably wouldn't use it for anything else. Instead I made a hot sauce mayo to put on mine. It was quite tasty, but still had a spicy kick.

I followed the recipe pretty good, but used a leaner ground beef. Believe it was 90/10 and just salt and peppered them. I used cheddar cheese for my burgers and american for Charlie's.

I LOVED putting chips on my burger. I don't like veggies other than pickles, because I don't like warm lettuce or wet tomatoes messing up my burger! This is what my yummy burger looked like before I swished all the yumminess together!!

And AFTER!!! YUM! It was delicious!

Crunchburger (AKA Signature Burger)

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground chuck (80% lean) or ground turkey (90% lean)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 tbs canola oil
  • 8 slices American cheese, each 1/4″ thick
  • 4 potato hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • 4 slices beefsteak tomatoes
  • 4 leaves romaine
  • 4 slices red onion
  • Horseradish Mustard Mayo
  • 4 handfuls potato chips

Preparation:

Divide the meat into 4equal portions. Form each portion loosely into a 3/4″ thick burger and make a deep depression n the center with your thumb. Season both sides of he burger with salt and pepper.
Cook the burgers, using the oil and topping each one with 2 slices cheese and a basting cover during the last minute of cooking.
Place the burgers on the bun bottoms and if desired top with tomato, lettuce, onion, and a dollop of horseradish mustard mayo. Pile on the potato chips and top with the buns. Serve immediately.
